The National Alliance considers that, being realistic and taking into account existing geopolitical situation and budgetary constraints Member States face, future needs of the EU will have to be provided within next MFF not significantly larger than the current MFF. Ensuring security has the highest priority. With the war going on near the EU Eastern border, next MFF has to reflect new security needs and the financial effort needed to help Ukraine in the war with Russia, and in longer-term vision the EU accession of Ukraine. At the same time, if there is desire for more ambitious EU-level policies, initiatives and projects, a larger share of the EU’s GDP must go into the MFF.Moreover, Member States should increase funding for their research and innovation systems as much as possible, and make them more efficient and more competitive, starting from being able to use all the funding that is potentially available from Horizon Europe and EU structural funds.
