CoARA

The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) vision is that the assessment of research, researchers and research organisations recognises the diverse outputs, practices and activities that maximise the quality and impact of research. This requires basing assessment primarily on qualitative judgement, for which peer review is central, supported by responsible use of quantitative indicators.

ISE has signed the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment that sets a shared direction for changes in assessment practices for research, researchers and research performing organisations, with the overarching goal to maximise the quality and impact of research.

ISE is represented by Toma Susi (YAE) who was elected to the Steering Board during the first General Assembly 1 December 2022.

ISE participates directly or indirectly to several Working Groups which were approved by the Steering Board

ISE had expressed its position in a paper published in 25 January 2022 “Centrality of researchers in reforming research assessment”: paper-research-assessment – Initiative for Science in Europe (initiative-se.eu)
